Army Multiple Launch Rocket System Crewmember (MOS 13M)Army Multiple Launch Rocket System Crewmember (MOS 13M)Initial Training Overview Job training for a Multiple Launch Rocket Crew Member consists of nine weeks of Basic Training, and four weeks, one day of Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Part of this time is spent in a classroom and part in the field under simulated combat. Restrictions During Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), the Army limits a soldiers personal freedom, using a Phase System, which grants increased freedom, based upon l of training. Training Details The training course provides a working knowledge for skil l level 1 Fire Support Specialist in the following areas Map Reading, Land Navigation, Observed Fire Procedures, Digital Operations, Fire Support Team Vehicle Maintenance, and Laser Operations. The soldier will receive training on either the M270 or M270A1 Launcher depending on first unit of assignment. In addition all soldiers will be trained on the proper operation of the M985 Heavy Equipment Mobile Tactical Truck (HEMTT) and the M989A1 Heavy Equipment Mobile Ammunition Trailer (HEMAT). Soldiers will also be instructed on proper maintenance procedures, proper hand and arm signals, communications, duties at the firing point, reload operations, and land navigation skills.
